Martin Eastwell - Lutes, Theorbo, & Early Guitars

Deborah and Martin met as colleagues on the North West Early Music Forum Summer School in Ambleside, and since then have been working to explore the huge repertoire for voice and lute.

Deborah studied at Manchester University, the Royal Northern College of Music, Huddersfield University and the Royal College of Music. She now works as a singer, conductor, voice teacher and Reiki healer/teacher. She has performed extensively both in the UK and abroad. She also works regularly with the York Waits, with whom she has recorded a number of CD's, as well as touring the USA. She was a Musical Director at the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and voice teacher at Chetham's School of Music. She now directs Vox Aurum and Laudamus Choir and teaches privately. In 2005, she was invited to Buckingham Palace in recognition of her services to the British Music Industry.

Martin studied the lute with Diana Poulton, and later at the Royal College of Music with Jakob Lindberg. His first solo recording, The Royal Lute, appeared in 1991, and he has since played on recordings for BIS, EMI, Thames Television and numerous other companies. In 1992, he was invited to give a solo recital as part of the World Shakespeare Congress in Tokyo. He has taught on the NORVIS early music course in Durham for almost 20 years, and has also taught on a variety of other courses throughout the UK, including those at Ambleside and Dartington, and on various courses organised by the Lute Society. He recently recently completed a solo recording of 17th Century Scottish lute music, with another recording of 17th Century English music planned for September 2013.
